About Jessica Odom
I live in Jonesboro, Ark. with my husband, Shane and our son, Cooper. When I’m not in the office, I enjoy photography and working on craft projects. One of my hidden talents is that I can make conversation with just about anyone. I love meeting new people and hearing about their ideas and aspirations!
What excites you about working for Hytrol?
What excites me most about working at Hytrol is the wealth of knowledge that I have access to each day. We have several employees with 10-20 years of experience here at Hytrol. In the training world, it is sometimes challenging to find an external source for information that is a custom fit for your organization. A lot of times we have all the information we need within these walls! It also helps that people take so much pride in what they do here so they are always willing to share their best practices.
What are your current responsibilities?
I oversee the training activities for all of our employees. This includes developing new training content, scheduling both internal and external training programs, and sometimes I even get the opportunity to serve as a trainer!
What do you love about your job?
I love that I get to learn something new every day. With so many different functions that go on in the plant and trying to find the best training solution, I get to learn a lot about a lot of different things. From learning how to navigate the AutoCAD software to the various weld types and even how to operate a pneumatic nail gun, I get the opportunity to see all these different jobs and learn from the experts that do those jobs day in and day out!
What do you find most challenging in your position?
As our business is rapidly growing, so is the number of people that need training on our newest products and processes. I work with a stellar training team that truly “divides and conquers” the training needs that we receive. Although keeping up with all the training needs is a challenge, it’s a blessing too because it shows that our Integration Partner Network is loyal to our product and trust us with their business!
Complete this statement: When I think of Hytrol, I think of family.
The Hytrol Family was a phrase that was first introduced to me during the interview process. I thought it was just a clever saying at the time but from Day 1, my coworkers have always made me feel like an important part of this… well.. family! From the health club and medical clinic to our company Christmas party, and even people in the office asking about my son’s karate practice from time to time. We all have a vested interest in each other’s lives. We work hard–together. I think this is one thing that has made our brand what it is today!
What goals do you hope to achieve at Hytrol?
I hope that I can equip all employees with the knowledge and skills to do their job as safely and efficiently as possible and empower aspiring leaders in our business to prepare themselves for the next step in their career.
