Ask Hytrol: How to Maintain an O-Ring Transfer on an E24™ Conveyor
Ask Hytrol is our monthly video series focused on specific topics to help you maintain your conveyor system and learn about new technology. In this video, you will learn how to maintain an O-ring transfer on an E24™ conveyor.
The O-ring transfer is used to move products at right angles to adjacent or parallel conveyor lines. It is preferable to the timing belt transfer in two major ways. Because of its setup around the driveshaft, it is easier to maintain, and it holds tension across the top of the transfer to keep the O-ring from rolling out of the sheave.
To remove an O-ring, follow proper lock-out/tag-out procedures and remove the rollers at the top of the transfer. Detach the O-ring beginning with the bottom idler sheave. With the tension released, pull the O-ring from under the driveshaft.
To replace an O-ring, loop it over the top sheave. Wrap the O-ring down and around the right side of the sheaves. Do the same on the left side, hooking the O-ring around the bottom idler sheave.
